Consultant Livestock DevelopmentMinistry of National Food Security and Research, Pakistan · since May 2025
I am working at the national level as a Consultant Livestock Development in the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, Pakistan. I'm a veterinarian by training. My research is in animal genomics and fetal programming: how maternal nutrition in early pregnancy shapes calf development later, studied through epigenetics, multiomics, and biostatistics.
The pregnant heifers were provided with different diet treatments, based on levels of gains and with and without one-carbon metabolites, then looked for changes in DNA methylation in the fetal liver, muscle, brain, and ovarian tissues.
Multi-omics & GWAS
RNA-seq data from fetal tissues, including the small RNAs (miRNA, lncRNA) that switch genes up or down. Also GWAS on admixed beef heifers influenced by different cattle breeds.
Livestock policy
At MNFS&R I work through data on national livestock programs. Including livestock breeding policy and national agriculture policies drafting and re-drafting, along with provincial or regional coordination.
About
Veterinarian first
I did my DVM at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad. After that came two years of buffalo genomics research at NIBGE, and then I moved to Fargo, United States, where I completed my MS leading to PhD program in Animal Science at North Dakota State University in 2025. I came back home after that. I've been in the Ministry role since May 2025.
Short write-ups of papers I've worked on, with the study design, main numbers and what they mean. Each one links to the full open-access paper by its DOI.
